Managing Groups without Master Records
Many work orders are members of a group that does not have a master/child relationship.
Even though the members share a more loose association, you can still perform some operations on all members in a single step:
-
Select some or all group members on the Group page and change status based on the options presented
-
Use the Complete/Close window to record progress, complete and/or close out the entire group of associated work orders
-
Print work orders or work order statements for all members of the group
In contrast to groups with a master/child relationship, changes made to one record in these more loosely associated groups do not automatically push to the remaining members. Since there is no master record, assignments cannot be pushed to all members and status changes are not automatically pushed, unless they are performed on the Group page by selecting members first.
In addition, when accessing the Complete/Close window from a group member record, the system presumes you are only acting on the individual record. You must proactively indicate if all records should be affected by the change you designate.
